Smith & Wilson Estate Wines is located in the middle of the Lake Erie North Shore wine region. We have been producing and supplying grapes to wineries for over 25 years. In 2005, we opened our own winery. As a small family-owned winery, our philosophy is to prepare small batch, quality wines to be enjoyed with friends and family. Our vineyards are grown on our third generation century farm, with the vines growing on a gently sloping gravel ridge that falls to meet the north shore of Lake Erie. Our land is sandy loam over a limestone lakebed base. With these wonderful conditions we are able to produce vintages of exceptional quality.
In our first major wine competition, six Medals of Merit were awarded at the All Canadian Wine Championships. All of our wines are produced on site with farm-grown grapes or fruit. In 2006 we released our Viognier, a smooth, easy-drinking variety reminiscent of summer peaches. Actually, we are the only winery in our area to grow and produce wine from this grape.
The wines, the spectacular view and the people make a trip to Smith & Wilson a truly memorable experience. Our region boasts the most sunshine hours in Canada! So, while we can’t guarantee the weather chances are it will be good! Come and visit us soon.
Who needs the old world?
Who needs the Old World? We’ve got all the antiquity we need right here! We’ve opened up the “Ruins of Cedar Springs”. It’s a great event area set in the broken foundations of a 100-year-old cattle barn, here on the farm. You can see the lake, vineyards and Sherry’s Perennials all while sipping a glass of Smith & Wilson wine of your choice.
The Old Warehouse is up and running
Located at Smith & Wilson Estate Wines “The Old Warehouse” is the perfect place to mix business with pleasure. It's our hospitality space
devoted to special events, corporate functions, catered business
lunches, wine and cheese receptions, informative wine tastings and
seminars, tours of the farm and winery.
Great food paired with fine wines – and if that isn't enough it also also offers a panoramic view
of the vineyards and Lake Erie. Check out our tours and events pages for more information.
